Jacob Nielsen

Jacob has worked as clinical specialist in anesthesiology for 20 years, 7 years as head of department. In the following 6 years as head of patient safety at a university hospital in the Copenhagen area, followed by 7 years as regional risk manager in the Capitol Region of Denmark.

He has several years’ experience as lecturer in patient safety in the education of anesthesiologists and lecturer at University of Copenhagen.

Jacob has extensive experience in the practical work of improving patient safety, pro and reactively. His network in the patient safety community in Denmark is intensive as well as personal, and includes dimensions of clinical, organizational and economic perspectives.

His current focus is mental health among healthcare professionals, as this issue probably is the most urgent threat for patient safety and the ability to recruit and retain healthcare professionals, not to mention the ethics in the responsibility for the colleagues in health care.
